The way to ruin a day’s mood

Why must I always end up in arguments in politicartoons? Now I’m arguing with level_head, who is being really damn unreasonable. He’s saying that Iraq did have weapons of mass destruction and ties to 9/11, even after the commission said they didn’t. The problem with him is that he’s even harder to argue with than ilovethecure. He keeps coming up with articles, such as one about John Kerry being warned about 9/11 in advance. The article isn’t carried by any major news source (including Fox).

Anyway, crap like this is why I want to leave the country. Why should I stay here with bullshit-spewing con artists who change their mind about what the war in Iraq was about, who think that civilian deaths are okay as long as they’re not Americans, who think that because they don’t lose their tempers while they speak nonsense they’re level-headed.

Someone pointed this out at social hour at school today, and it’s a good point.

One of the weirdest things about this whole political climate is that the traditional liberal/conservative positions are being reversed. At one time, conservatives felt strongly that the government should keep out of the citizens’ personal lives, while the liberals felt the government had a duty to take an active role in helping the citizens. Now, we find that the conservatives want the government to invade their lives, revoke their rights, and pass laws about who they can marry. The liberals are now the people who fear the government interfering with their lives.

I think it all boils down to a simple misconception: the conservatives feel that these rights are not ones that they would ever exercize. They feel it’s okay for the government to poke into the bedroom because the government would approve of their bedrooms. They think they would never want to marry someone of the same sex. They were never going to look middle-eastern and try to get on an airplane.

Let’s face it; for refusing to think about anyone other than themselves, they’re assholes.

Mock the evil!

Thanks to the support of open-source software coders, I can present a page giving random idiotic W quotes.

For the record, social conservatives have always been wrong. Over time, they have been shown wrong again and again; yet, still people want to take away the rights of other people over something meaningless like race or sexual orientation. How do they just not get it?!

I have voted! With a paper ballot! My vote will be counted.

Now, I just have to watch and pray.
